6 pm Update
The latest update from The National Weather Service and Okaloosa Public Safety Office indicates that the storms that are predicted to impact our area tomorrow are expected to conclude by 6am, therefore school will be in session tomorrow, Tuesday, May 14. Good afternoon! This is an important weather update from the Okaloosa County School District. Based on the latest update from The National Weather Service and in consultation with Okaloosa Public Safety Director, Patrick Maddox, we are not expected to have severe weather this afternoon. After school activities including extracurricular activities, daycare, and tutoring can continue as scheduled today. Outdoor activities will be adjusted as needed. Please rely on your individual school for further information.
Additionally, we are monitoring the weather that is expected to impact our area tomorrow morning. While at the current time cancellations are not anticipated, we will continue to provide updates as information is received from the National Weather Service. Thank you!
8:40 am Update
Good morning! We are monitoring the weather coming through our area today and tomorrow morning. At this time, the most severe weather is currently set to impact our area from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. We have inclement lunch procedures in place and alternate plans for testing in progress at that time should we need them. Field trips scheduled for today have been canceled. Currently, the weather is not anticipated to be severe during dismissal, and we plan to dismiss at regular times. When we receive an update from the Okaloosa Public Safety Office later this morning, we will make a decision about after-school activities. We are also mindful that the weather may impact school tomorrow and will provide updates as decisions are made. We appreciate your patience as we do our best to weigh all factors in the decision-making process, student and employee safety being the most important. Have a great day!
